I don’t disagree with anything you wrote… absolutely you can go overboard with tuning drums. I am specifically talking about layering, where being tuned a little off can make mixing them sound weird. Of course you can just tune it yourself if needed, but when randomizing the kit and trying different things, it would be helpful to have them somewhat close.I mean it is not that you can't fake instrument tuning where tuning is not available - with various tools - but this specific aspect is damn too much exaggerated IMO.Playing with this some more... one additional thing AI or something could help with: synchronizing and/or setting pitches for things (or maybe scale).
I didn't notice this so much with Atlas, because it's just single drums, but I did notice with Triaz because it supports more mixing: sometimes you can get samples that don't mix well.
In the factory set for instance, 'Deep Knock' is about a semitone above 'Deep Thud' and 'Rapid Knock'.
I suppose you could fix this in a factory set but there will always be user samples where you can't force it.
People worry too much about perfection. Less talking more walking.
