Bitwig • Re: Bitwig questions: sampler envelope zoom link, midi editor vertical zoom

EDIT, forget it, i realize now that mouse wheel scroll doesn't change parameters, this is a deal breaker for me, i'll check back again in a year to see if any one this fundamental stuff is fixed.

I edit with a Wacom tablet for my left hand and my right hand on a mouse. Mouse scroll is crucial for avoiding RSI.

Bitwig seems promising but i don't understand how new features can be added without getting the basics sorted first.

Regarding envelopes, Bitwig devs need to check what U-he are up to with Zebra 3, this is the new standard, the Bitwig sampler envelope is a joke. Sorry to be harsh.
Well to each his own, everyone has his/her prefered features, and if mouse-wheelscrolling- of parameters is that high on your list, then i guess you'll really have to work with another DAW for quite some time. First, i would recommend asking Bitwig via Email for your desired features though, because otherwise, they won't even know about your wishes, and have no chance to listen to them.

Coming from Cubase, Ableton, Izotope RX, Adobe Premiere, Melodyne - and any other editor i ever used - i couldn't believe why Bitwig put ALT + Mousewheel for horizontal scrolling of the Arranger, so i asked them to please give us the option to change that to SHIFT + Mousewheel, which is the standard. I also couldn't believe how many Bitwig users just shoulder-shrug about the incredibly annoying accidental time-selections which happen all the time due to the structure of the piano roll (selected notes are like mouse-traps for the wrong tool = time selection instead of note-length!) or the arranger (when clicking in the top 50% of a track, you get the normal selection, in the lower 50% you get the time-selection. This should be changeable to just manual tool-selection, not automatic!).
I have my own personal wishlist, and concerning the top 10 points of that wishlist, i have the same thoughts "i don't understand how new features can be added without getting the basics sorted first". The fact that your wishes are completely different from mine proves, that Bitwig surely has a HUGE list of requested features, from people like us who think that "their" request is the most important one. It surely must be quite hard for such a small team, to make everyone equally happy. But yes, i'm hoping for further Quality of Life, basic Editing, common sense Feature updates in the future. If anyone wants a prime example for a "common sense" update: No more requirement for pressing Enter after re-naming anything in Bitwigs interface... Or letting users export Midi files with automation (!!!)..

By the way: your piano roll has the drum-view active. if you press the keyboard symbol left side of the drum-view(note fold) symbol, you will see the big-piano roll view again.
And vertical zooming of notes in the piano roll has the option to be bound to a shortcut, which can be found in Bitwigs Settings - Shortcuts -> "Zoom in Detail Editor Lane Heights"
