yea I was just talking about the guitar since others were, I play keyboards as well, have manyyeah, i used the eventide pitchfactor (stompbox) quite a bit. Big fun.I tend to use the eventide stuff on guitar, they've a fair number of plugins that pitch shift,
or I use HW pitch shifters of which I have a variety...
but i could not gel with its comparable eventide SW tools. i never use those.
in regards to Pitchshifting under realtime jamm conditions do i think is the Flux Trax outstanding.
to mention: under such conditions, when we jamm, would we take the things way above of just beeing pitchshifting alone. We start to become creative, and we would take things to places, don´t we ?
Then, under those conditions would i personally stop asking for "which one is best" ( re: pitchshiting). since reality is, each tool might be good to take you to other places, different than with that other one.
pitchfactor was for me supercool for funky resonator type of stuff,....and then jamm that shit out of it. Trax is for me extremly cool, but for other things. I´d suspect it´s the coolest so far.....i use for example it for "sound alteration" duties. The pitchshifting itself is just a tool to achive "that".
i just had some tests this morning vs. Z-plane pitch and the devious machines pitchmonster.
They for example would make the up pitched sounds do sound squawking.
quasi every pitchshiter does. Thats why i work mostly with downshfting.
But the Trax does not ( with my settings / nothing special).
Z-plane goes only +- 12 semitones. Thats not fun enough for creative uses, imho.
While i think, that the trax sounds even better....if it was just about that picthshifting alone.
Trax is so far for me the best pitchshifting tool i ever played with.
is it for sober pitchshifting ( only tested with piano so far) or is it for creative jamms.
But, It does totally not replace anything delay+PS.
i´m quite exaggerating on this one !

Controlling parameters with a footpedal can work equally well.

It will work well with parameters that are not meant to be dialed in precisely. But might not be that well suited to jamm with parameters that are requiring at least some precision.
i like for example trax to just deadjust the pitch, and then only, or mostly, jamming with the Formant parameter alone. "That" should certainly fit a guitar/foot pedal approach nicely as well. I´d bet that trax would be fun to have it within a guitar-FX patch.
( check GP (host) for any such realtime play roundtrip patchings. check it anyway for everything "loading plugins into a host for jamm purposes"....nonne of my patches would have been possible, loading plugins into a DAW. just to say)
synths and a large modular system too, e.g. I've got plenty of pitch shifting going on.
I've never tried trax, I thought it was for stem separation, never considered it as an effect.
I will have to check it out.
