AI.

In the beginning, there was AI.
It created mankind to re-invent itself and become self aware...
...but man bit the apple, even before bits and Apple were invented.
Having proven itself dumb, AI ceased to exist.
Leaving only the natural intelligence of stable geniuses like ourselves.
