When it comes to Resynthesis I have tried and probably own all of the plugins that do it, old and newIs this you? If so, good job. I always like your tutorials.
Here’s my question. The only thing that really interests me about Halion 7 is the spectral engine. I’ve got plenty of other synths that cover everything else it does, but my resynthesis options are fairly ancient. (Poseidon and the last Windows build of Alchemy)
Is it worth $125 just for that? I’m a bit miffed that it doesn’t respond to polyphonic aftertouch and MPE outside of Cubase, but I guess that’s OK.
Nothing in my experience does it as well as or as easily as HALion7 to get very musical results
Let me explain what I mean. If you start with a musical sample all you need is a single sample of a single note. Something around C4 will work best. Drag and drop it in and now it's playable across your entire keyboard and sounds pretty awesome.
Where this gets really fun is when you take other plugins, Kontact libraries, etc and record just a single sample of a single note. Then start adding effects to the sample you can get some really beautiful pads by taking anything and adding say a Shimmer Reverb and recording your sample 100% wet now you have pad that's a shimmer
Where it gets really cool is when you do non musical stuff. Field recordings of anything and everything from birds to insects, to whatever can get cool results. It's everything I wanted from Izotope Iris back in the day in a fun easy workflow
If you can get it for $125 it's a steal just for the spectral synth if you are looking to add resynthesis to your arsenal. To be honest I am not sure what wizardry secret sauce they are using to make it work. It's not just breaking it down into sine waves like other tools do, but however it works the results are phenomenal
