That depends on what you want to do...

If you simply want to improvise, create by using standard Chord entry and record (which is different than learning tabs... Band in a Box. When you get BIAB they include Real Band which is streamlined for midi and audio production.

Note "Real Styles" are not to be confused with Midi or Super Midi styles.

I do a lot of quick scoring in BIAB then export to either Real Band 0r Acoustica Mixcraft Pro
Melodyne is included and can correct pitch if you are having issues with tuning stability on your guitar but honestly... Make sure you have relatively new strings, Make sure that the intonation is set correctly and always tune before you play.

I'm not into sampled loop libraries. They are always too busy they don't survive tempo shifts well.

Reading and scoring.
Sometimes it's just faster to punch in your score. If you are a chord chart reader BIAB is a gold mine. Pick your style, tempo, Key and then just enter the chord names. Instant band in a box. Real Band (inncluded with biab) also has a descent (not great) notation reader where you can manually punch in via mouse (takes a long time) It's tab scoring is horrendous Midi chord detection is great in BIAB so if you have something midi based you want to figure out to add to your skill set it's there.

If you are mostly a tab reader forget recording and get Guitar Pro. Great for scoring tabs great for learning tabs. More guitar tabs than anything are available either via the mysongbook which runs via GuitarPro and is supportate by arobas the company that makes guitar pro.

Honestly if it's more of a traditional drum beats I'll just export the drums from BIAB or one of my GP files and import it. I can slice dice, rearrange swap kits change tempo and more inside Mixcraft.

Here's what I suggest
Guitar Pro - When I perform live I play chord melody jazz standards. Learning them from ear and then arranging them for guitar is way too much time that I don't have. I used to use it for learning covers when I was in a cover band but now when I perform out it's just me playing chord melody.

Mixcraft Pro Studio 10
This is my go to when I want straight ahead production.

Band In a Box/ Real Band
This is the most inspiring software I've ever owned. It's not just for jazz players.
Writing and reading chord progressions is essential to writing whole songs. I often use BIAB as a mock up tool for my classical/cinematic writing even when I don't use the included styles. Using simple chord charts is how many composers write whole songs. Not using them and you'll only find yourself winding through the same old licks hoping something will happen.
